How to Crochet Slippers – Easy Crochet Slipper Pattern

This is a crazy easy slipper pattern.

Because every persons foot is different and every yarn and hook make a bigger or smaller stitch the pattern is a bit improvised for each person – however because it is so easy improvising is the best way to go.

Let me explain.

See the image below? Both slippers are the same size – size 7 wide. I used a size K hook to make each slipper. However I used different size yarn to make ease.

The blue slipper was made with Bernat Blanket Super Bulky Yarn.
I chained 12, then single crochet from the second chain from hook.
To start the next row I chained 2 (counts as first single crochet) and single crochet in each space across. Repeating for a total of 28 rows. That gave me the sole of the slipper and the part up the back.

The blue and green slipper uses 2 balls of yarn together – clearly 1 blue and 1 green. I used the same K hook as I did with the blue slipper, but this time I had to chain 15, then single crochet from the second chain from hook.
To start the next row I chained 2 (counts as first single crochet) and single crochet in each space across. Repeating for a total of 45 rows. Again that gave me the sole of the slipper and up the back.

Here is how you start:
1. Grab a piece of paper and trace your barefoot.

2. Chain until you are 2 chains larger than the widest part of your foot (refer to the paper with your traced foot!).

3. Row 1 – Single crochet in the second chain from hook and all the way across. Turn.

4. Row 2 – Chain 2, then single crochet in each single crochet. Count the single crochets to make sure you don’t make to many or miss one in any of the rows.

My foot is about 9 inches long. Then I added 4 inches for the back.

5. Continue until the sole and back of the slipper are the length of your foot plus 4 inches (or what is comfortable for you or the person you’re making it for. Obviously for a child you wouldn’t necessarily need a 4 inch back.)

For me step 5 was 13 inches long and 4 1/2 inches wide. Remember I wear a size 7 wide, feet will vary!

Next you need to make the sides of the slipper.

6. Remember I said my foot was 9 inches long? That means each side of the slipper needs to be 9 inches long also.

So once the sole/back of the slipper is the correct length you will turn it to one side. You will need to single crochet down the side of the slipper, but only as wide as you made the sole/back of the slipper.

In my case the sole/back of the slipper is 4 1/2 inches wide so I single crochet down the side of the slipper 4 1/2 inches from the top. (see the picturs)
Once you have singled crochet the correct length for the top, turn, chain 2 and start back across. Always count how many single crochets you make in each row, because each row should have the same amount of single crochets.

For my slipper each side needs to be 4 1/2 inches wide and 9 inches long.

Once you finish one side you will fasten off and attach the yarn to the other side at the top.
You will make as many single crochets as you did down the side of this side as you did on the last side and it will need to be equally as long. (refer to picture above)

Putting it all together.

Ready? This is the slightly confusing bit.

Take #1 and put it on top of #4

You will need to hand stitch 2 and 3 together.

Next hand stitch 5 and 6 together.

If you are making the Left Slipper you will hand stitch 7 ON TOP of 1.
If you’re making the Right Slipper you will hand stitch 1 ON TO of 7.

In other words, the fold goes inwards.
