This may be the shortest “How To” I ever type!
1) Download Open Office – it’s FREE software that is 100 times better than anything MicroSoft has created http://www.openoffice.org/
2) Install Open Office
3) Open – OpenOffice.org Writer
4) Create some Text
5) Click File > Export as PDF
6) Make sure the Format is set to PDF (see the purple pointer)
7) Click Export
8) Name your PDF and click Save
Done!

That’s a great tutorial! Do you get to keep your hyperlinks in the pdf?
[You know, I've never tried it! If you try it let me know. I'd assume there is away, but not sure.]
If you are looking for a nice program which will let you make high quality PDF documents, here is one I found recently: http://www.smartpdfcreator.com. It’s very easy to work with, I use it all the time.
[Is it free?]
Wow, that’s surprisingly easy, it goes to prove that you don’t have to pay a fortune for the big boys software
Open Office is really a cool application. Nobody would need MS Office when they have this absolutely free.
No doubt, Open office is good but MS Office also provide facility to save as pdf. You can also Google free online applications to convert a file from any format to pdf.
