How To Blog Part 3 – What the Heck am I Doing?

Most people make it through Part 1, enjoy Part 2 and die out when they hit Part 3.

It’s called blogging for a reason, it’s a Web Log – that means you need to do something and record it – Kind of like the “Captains Log“, except you probably won’t start with the Star Date, you can, but unless you’re blogging about Star Trek you’ll lose your readers.

What is your topic?
What have you decided to dedicate your blogging life to achieving?

I constantly hear “I just want to make money, how do I do that?”

The only way to earn money online is to find something you’re good at or can become good at, grab a following and figure out away to make people pay you for it.

Examples are the best way to go.

This is Tricia – The Night Owl Mama.
She does reviews Family Friendly products.
Companies from around the US, pay her and send her products to review. And when the company really wants to make a splash they send her another item to giveaway.
How did she do it? Hard work. She had to network with other reviewers, follow other blogs and research how they did it to get where she is today.

In the Kitchen with KP.
Karen also does reviews, but she does far more cooking. People swamp to her site to figure out what they’re going to make for dinner.
Though she is paid for reviews, she is also paid for advertising space.
Her sidebar is her rental space. If a company wants to get noticed they’ll pay her a fee to reside on her sidebar.

Marilyn runs Goodie Bags N Boxes – also know as SpoilYourselfBoutique.com
Marilyn has such a simple idea it’s earth shattering. Companies pay her to hand out and ship samples of their products around the country.
It’s as simple as that, but it takes an enormous amount of work to find the companies and show them that she can help them build their business.
(The goodie bags are great. Yes, she sent me several samples.)

What do I do?
I do a little bit of everything – but I’m best at making your blog or website look 100 times better than it actually is.
I build websites, run giveaways, drive traffic to my clients blogs and websites, build followings for my clients and all while showing them that you can do it all wrong and still get it all right.

My blog is constantly changing, it follows none of the rules of blogging, in reality I should not be able to keep up my following, but it’s proof that anyone can do it if you are determined.

You don’t need to know exactly how you’re going to make money with your blog right this moment. In this moment you need to start doing something and the rest will come.

Paint your toes a different color every day and take a picture. Learn to bake bread and make it a video (see below), Write a story, one page a day, asking your followers to give you suggestions.

Just start doing something!!!

Your Goal this week is to put something on your blog every day. It doesn’t matter what. It doesn’t have to follow any kind of plan. Just put something on there every day.

If you can make it 7 days and your still blogging. Come back and I’ll teach you about Fan Pages and Twitter Followers. If after 7 days you lose interest, don’t bother learning about Fans & Followers!

Part 4 Fans & Followers.
