Palace Playland – Fun and Excitement for Everyone in the Family! #PalacePlayland @PalacePlayland
Today we made our annual end-of-the-summer family trek to Old Orchard Beach to go to Palace Playland. Don’t worry, it’s not the complete end of the summer – you still have a couple of weeks to take your family before school starts again. And if you haven’t had your summer-end family day, you really should go pack up for the day and head to Palace Playland for it. It is New England’s only beachfront amusement park. There is something for everyone in the family, from toddlers to grandparents. And Old Orchard Beach offers miles of gorgeous sandy beaches to explore and enjoy when you want a break from the rides and attractions.
Palace Playland has over 25 rides, with something for everyone. Little kids will love riding horses on the Carousel, or driving their own Hampton Car or Hampton Motorcycle. Older kids will thrill to rides like Adrenaline and the Matterhorn. Family members who prefer more “traditional” rides will enjoy the Electra Wheel ferris wheel, and Dodg’em electric bumper cars. Now that my kids are a bit older it is fun to see them to go on rides together – one of Riley’s favorites continues to be the Tilt-A-Whirl, and Keira surprised me by going on the Riptide with Riley and V. She was terrified and hysterically happy at the same time – I could barely watch! She also went on the Dragon roller coaster all by herself – not only did she love it, she even got off by herself and exited in the right place!
The very best part of Palace Playland is that it’s never so crowded with people that you can’t move. People go from the beach to the rides back to the beach and then return for rides and a meal. The longest you ever have to wait is for a ride to finish and then it’s your turn. My girls rode the roller coaster 4 times in a row.
It’s safe! The girls were on the Riptide ride over a dozen times – OVER A DOZEN TIMES (talk about getting your money’s worth) EACH and EVERY TIME I watched as the man running the ride checked each belt and made sure each person was in the ride correctly and that all safety harnesses were properly fitting. He was quick and efficient and I felt like everything possible was being done to ensure the safety of all the riders. It was the same with all the rides. Every ride and every passenger was checked every time.
The great thing about Palace Playland is that you can spend the morning at the beach, and the afternoon on the rides. We spent a little time walking around the shops and playing some of the many games that Palace Playland has to offer, then we went for the rides. After we were done, Riley and V had fried dough, and our day was complete. Keira even fell asleep in the car on the way home.
Old Orchard Beach is an excellent vacation destination, and Palace Playland makes sure that no one in your family gets bored! You can buy individual tickets or books of tickets for rides, or passes that let you play all day for one or two days. If you are local, consider a season’s pass – for the best deal. With the beach and the amusement park all in one place, along with restaurants, shops and games, you can’t go wrong!
