Free Half Glove Crochet Pattern
I am in love with the beautiful yarn I used to make these half gloves. The yarn is a Lace Weight Cabito Wool and is beautifully made and easy to use. The gloves will make the perfect holiday gift for any woman or teen. One skein will make at least 2 pair of gloves so you are making more gifts and spending less.
I am creating a printable version with image that will be available soon. For the moment please work off the internet version I have provided here and check back in a few days for the printable version.
Hook: 2.25mm
Yarn: Lace Weight Cabito Wool Yarn from Darn Good Yarn
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
slst = slip stitch
sts = stitches
sk = skip
ss = same space
sp = space
* to * means repeat everything between the stars until you get to the end
You will notice the Lace Weight Cabito Wool Yarn calls for a 3.25 hook. I almost always use a smaller hook than the yarn calls for and this pattern is no exception I am using a 2.25mm.
Chain must be in multiples of 8 plus 1. For a small wrist chain 64+1, for a med/large wrist chain 72+1
Small Adult Wrist ch 65. Med-Lar Adult Wrist ch 73 – slst into loop – Careful not to twist. (However if you do twist, be careful not to twist a lot.)
Row 1. ch 1, hdc 1 in each back loop (if you don’t know what this means, just do a hdc in each ch)
Row 2. ch 2, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) ss * sk 3 sts (sc, ch 2, sc) ss, sk 3 sts, (3 dc , ch 1, 3 dc) ss, * repeat * to * At end, sk 3 sts, (sc, ch 2, sc) ss, sk 3 sts, slst top of first 2 ch of this row.
Row 3. slst into ch 1 sp, ch 1, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in the ch 1 space from previous row, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the ch 2 space of previous row,* repeat * to * To end slst into the first ch 1 sp of this row.
Row 4. Slst into ch 2 sp, ch 2, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the ch 2 sp of previous row, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in the ch 1 space from previous row, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the ch 2 space of previous row,* repeat * to * To end (sc, ch 2, sc) in the last 1 ch sp from the previous row (bet you already knew that), slst into the top of the ch 2 from the beginning of this row.
Row 5 – Repeat rows 3 & 4 until desired wrist & palm length, up to where you want to start the thump.
End on row 3 to begin thumb.
Thumb
Row Thumb A: Starting in the ch 2 sp, ch 2 (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the ch 2 sp of previous row, ch 4, SKIP the Next Shell and go to the next 2 ch sp. *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the ch 2 space of previous row, (sc, ch 2, sc) in the ch 1 space from previous row,* repeat * to *, slst into the top of the ch 2 from the beginning of this row.
Row Thumb B: slst into ch 1 sp, ch 1, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in the ch 1 space from previous row, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the middle of the ch 4 space of previous row, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in the ch 1 space from previous row, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the ch 2 space of previous row,* repeat * to * To end slst into the first ch 1 sp of this row.
Row Thumb C: Slst into ch 2 sp, ch 2, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the ch 2 sp of previous row, *(sc, ch 2, sc) in the ch 1 space from previous row, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the ch 2 space of previous row,* repeat * to * To end (sc, ch 2, sc) in the last 1 ch sp from the previous row (bet you already knew that), slst into the top of the ch 2 from the beginning of this row.
Beyond the Thumb
Row A. Repeat rows 3 & 4 again until you reach the desired length. Then fasten off and weave ends.
Optional Bottom Embellishment
The reason row 1 is a row of hdc is because the hdc in the back loops hides the ugly chained look. I don’t like the chain look at the bottom of gloves and mittens. To hide the chain even more you can mirror the row above.
Slip into an area below one of the shell clusters from row 2. Create the shell cluster ch 2, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) ss, sk 3 sts, *slst into row 1, sk 3 sts, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc), sk 3 sts,* repeat * to * To end slst into top of the first ch 2. Fasten off and weave ends.
NOTE: since you are not going to make another row there is no need to do the (sc, ch 2, sc) portion in the embellishment row.
Make 2.
