Last month I took a crack at explaining (what has been called) Japanese Multiplication – Here and Here.
I make no secret of the fact that as a child I was home schooled, Christian schooled and sometimes a combination of the two in a one room school house – I can’t multiply (Heck, I can barely spell! Forget sentence structure).
while things such as multiplication worksheets and math puzzles are helpful, knowing I am not the only person in the world who has difficulty in math I felt the need to also share this mathematical find with others in need.
It has taken a while, but I finally figured out how to explain ‘carrying’ in Japanese Multiplication, wasn’t nearly as difficult to create an example as I had thought.
The second and forth examples use ‘carrying’. If you’re new to Japanese Multiplication the first and third are examples of the basics so you can catch up.
