How long can Governor LePage go without making a derogatory remark
about Mike Michaud’s Gay Status?
This morning Mainers woke to the news that Mike Michaud is gay. Big deal. Moving forward ….. it was about that time my brain paused and my first thought was “How long can Governor LePage go without making some off hand derogatory remark about Mike Michaud?”
Probably not long.
LePage’s office is sure to release a generic statement, nothing that will stir the pot – Maine is a Gay Rights state after all.
It’s what LePage is going to say when he forgets the mic is on or at the state house in a closed door meeting while someone is taking detailed notes that’s going to get him in trouble. Maine’s biggest embarrassment just can’t keep his mouth shut.
There are some good points about having LePage as Governor. He’s put Maine in the national news several times, never for anything positive mind you, but at least the state did get some publicity – people know we’re here. Many Americans still thought that Maine is part of Massachusetts – no longer thanks to LePage.
So today Mike Michaud puts us in to the spot light. This time it’s on a more positive note, everyone likes to hear about the new gay guy.
Does it matter? No.
Will I vote for him because of it? No.
Will I vote for him at all? I don’t remember liking him before, but I don’t remember why. So probably not.
Is Maine now less of a backwards state? Not while LePage is still governor.
If you didn’t care how Straight Michaud was yesterday, why does it matter how Gay he is today? It doesn’t. Moving on!
